Procter & Gamble Sees Hedge Fund Interest Rise in Recent 13F Filings

During our review of the latest 13F filings for the reporting period ending March 31, 2025, we found that Procter & Gamble Company (Symbol: PG) was held by 16 hedge funds. The alignment of so many fund managers indicates it’s worth a closer look at the data.

It’s important to note that 13F filings have limitations. These funds only disclose their long positions to the SEC, with no requirement to report short positions. For instance, a fund could be making a bearish bet against a stock by shorting it, while simultaneously holding a long position to manage their risk. This long position might appear in a 13F filing, leading to an assumption of bullishness, but only part of the overall strategy is visible, as the short side remains concealed.

With that context in mind, examining groups of 13F filings can be insightful, especially when looking at changes in holdings over time. Let’s explore the shifts in PG positions among the latest filers:

In terms of shares owned, we noted that four of the funds increased their PG positions from December 31, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Conversely, five funds reduced their stakes, while one registered a new position.

Extending our analysis beyond these specific funds, we aggregated the total PG shares held by all funds reporting as of March 31, 2025. Out of 4,164 funds reviewed, we compared this figure to the number of PG shares owned as of December 31, 2024. We discovered a total increase of 2,750,287 shares in aggregate, from 387,569,099 to 390,319,386—an approximate rise of 0.71%. The three largest holders of PG as of March 31, 2025, were identified as follows:

We will continue to monitor 13F filings of hedge fund managers and provide insights derived from the overall trends observed across various reporting periods. While individual 13F filings can be misleading due to their long-only nature, analyzing aggregate data across groups can be much more informative—offering valuable stock ideas that warrant further investigation, such as those related to Procter & Gamble (Symbol: PG).
