Amazon Holdings Surge: Hedge Funds Increased Positions Significantly
At Holdings Channel, we have analyzed the latest set of 24 13F filings for the quarter ending March 31, 2025. Notably, Amazon.com Inc (Symbol: AMZN) was held by 23 of these funds. When many hedge fund managers align their positions, it is prudent to investigate further.
It’s essential to recognize that 13F filings only reveal part of the picture. These documents disclose only a fund’s long positions with the SEC and do not include short positions. A fund might hold a long position in AMZN while simultaneously betting against it by shorting calls. The long component appears in the 13F filings, leading to assumptions of bullishness that may not reflect the entire strategy, as the bearish side remains hidden.

Expanding the analysis, we aggregated the total AMZN share count among all funds holding the stock as of March 31, 2025. Comparing this to the total from December 31, 2024, we found that holdings rose by 30,425,395 shares, increasing from 33,316,359 to 63,741,754. This represents a significant 91.32% rise in holdings.
