The Ensign Group, Inc. (ENSG) has expanded its operations with the acquisition of two skilled nursing facilities in Texas, effective July 1, 2026. The facilities include the 126-bed Las Ventanas de Socorro in Socorro and the 124-bed Los Arcos del Norte Care Center in El Paso. Financial terms were not disclosed, but this acquisition increases Ensign’s network to 398 healthcare operations, encompassing 48 senior living communities across 17 states.
This strategic acquisition adds 250 licensed beds to Ensign’s portfolio, which now includes 183 properties under its real estate arm, Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT. Ensign maintains a return on invested capital (ROIC) of 8.12%, significantly above the industry average of 3.05%. The added facilities align with the company’s long-term goals of increasing regional scale and operational efficiency in Texas.
Over the past year, Ensign’s shares have risen 12%, trailing behind the industry’s 28.2% growth. The company continues to emphasize acquisitions as a pathway to enhance occupancy, quality of care, and profitability.
