Entergy Louisiana, a subsidiary of Entergy Corp (ETR), announced a new agreement with Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) on Friday to support a hyperscale data center in Northeast Louisiana. This project is expected to deliver approximately $2 billion in customer savings over the next 20 years, bringing total anticipated benefits to around $2.65 billion.
Meta will finance the necessary energy infrastructure, which includes new generation, transmission, and storage. Additionally, Meta has committed $120 million towards Entergy’s Power to Care program and $140 million for energy efficiency initiatives. The project is projected to create thousands of construction jobs between 2026 and 2031, as well as enhance grid reliability.
The agreement will be submitted to regulators as part of the Louisiana Public Service Commission’s framework and is set to be reviewed during Entergy’s first-quarter earnings call in April 2026. The company plans to develop over 5,200 megawatts of new natural gas generation and install around 240 miles of transmission lines.
