Ford Motor Company (F) plans to add over 50,000 extra F-Series pickups in 2026, starting in Q1, following a production disruption caused by a fire at Novelis. The automaker will create up to 1,000 new jobs and significantly increase production at the Dearborn Truck Plant and Kentucky Truck Plant.

At Dearborn, Ford aims to produce more than 45,000 additional F-150 units in 2026 by launching a third crew sourced from the paused F-150 Lightning plant. The Kentucky plant is set to increase assembly line speed, contributing over 5,000 extra Super Duty trucks annually with a $60 million investment in upgrades.

This ramp-up is crucial for Ford’s profitability amidst strong demand for gas and hybrid F-150s and Super Duty pickups. In the last three months, Ford’s shares have risen 16%, trailing behind General Motors (GM), which gained 27%, but outperforming Toyota (TM), which saw an increase of 5%.
