Uber Technologies has partnered with Amazon’s Zoox to deploy purpose-built robotaxis through the Uber platform. The service is set to launch in Las Vegas during the summer, with an expansion to Los Angeles planned by mid-2027. Riders will be able to access Zoox autonomous vehicles via the Uber app while Zoox will continue offering rides through its own application.
This partnership allows Uber to leverage Zoox’s advanced robotaxi technology without bearing the full development costs, positioning Uber as a central player in autonomous rideshare. As of now, Uber aims to accelerate its scaling in suburban and low-density markets, further enhancing its ride-hailing services.
Uber shares have seen double-digit declines over the past six months, trading at a forward price-to-sales ratio of 2.51X, positioning it as relatively inexpensive compared to its industry. The company’s strategic focus on integrating autonomous vehicle developers into its platform underlines its long-term ambitions in the evolving mobility market.
