Bristol Myers Squibb Sees Mixed Hedge Fund Activity in Recent 13F Filings
In our examination of the latest 13F filings for the reporting period ending March 31, 2025, we found that 14 funds held positions in Bristol Myers Squibb Co. (Symbol: BMY). When a notable number of hedge fund managers share similar perspectives, it warrants a closer look.
It’s essential to note that 13F filings provide a limited view. Funds are only required to disclose their long positions to the SEC. They are not obligated to reveal short positions. For instance, a fund may hold a bearish stance by shorting stock while also having a long position to manage its overall strategy. This complexity may skew perceptions, as a long position in the filings could suggest bullish sentiment, excluding the unseen bearish aspects.
Despite this limitation, analyzing groups of 13F filings can offer valuable insights, particularly when comparing different reporting periods. Let’s explore the changes in Bristol Myers Squibb positions among recent filers.
Among the funds we reviewed, three increased their BMY holdings from December 31, 2024, to March 31, 2025, while eight reduced their positions. Notably, Fairway Wealth LLC exited its BMY position entirely by March 31, 2025.
Beyond these specific funds, we aggregated BMY share counts from all holdings reported as of March 31, 2025, comparing it with the total share count from December 31, 2024. From a total of 2,392 funds analyzed, we found that overall holdings increased by 1,065,848 shares from 69,485,384 to 70,551,232—an increase of approximately 1.53%. The top three funds holding BMY as of March 31, 2025, dominated the overall count.
We will continue to monitor 13F filings from hedge fund managers and share compelling narratives drawn from aggregated data across different filing periods. While individual 13F filings can be misleading due to their long-only disclosure requirements, examining groups of funds can reveal more complete and pertinent insights, such as those involving Bristol Myers Squibb Co. (Symbol: BMY).
