Aeva Technologies (AEVA) has entered the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) market through a partnership with Sensys Gatso Australia. Their 4D LiDAR sensors will be utilized in mobile speed enforcement units to combat speeding, which contributes to nearly 40% of traffic fatalities in Australia. The Aeva Atlas sensor will complement existing radar systems, offering enhanced accuracy and reliability in real-time speed detection across varied weather and lighting conditions.

This collaboration positions Aeva as the sole LiDAR supplier for Sensys Gatso, which has over 60,000 traffic enforcement systems installed globally. The small size and reliability of Aeva’s technology could open doors for speed enforcement efficiency in complex urban environments. Aeva is also developing additional software aimed at broader traffic system needs, potentially facilitating smart-city upgrades and reducing infrastructure expenditures.

In 2023, Aeva’s shares have surged by over 480%, although it currently has a forward price-to-sales ratio exceeding 50, indicating a high valuation compared to industry norms. The Zacks Consensus Estimate projects a 21% increase in Aeva’s earnings per share (EPS) for 2025.
