AT&T Inc. and Ericsson successfully demonstrated advanced drone detection capabilities during a live trial on September 26, 2023, outside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. The trial utilized AT&T’s 5G infrastructure to detect, locate, and track multiple drones flying at altitudes of 300 to 400 feet, showcasing the potential for real-time environmental sensing in support of future 6G technologies.
The technology integrated AI-powered sensing and advanced signal processing, providing real-time data on each drone’s location, altitude, and speed, which enhances monitoring for large venues and critical infrastructure. This initiative marks a significant step in AT&T’s efforts to expand sensing capabilities, improving visibility into vehicle movements and enhancing public-sector awareness regarding low-altitude drone activity.
Amidst competition, AT&T’s share price has decreased by 22.2% over the past year, while the telecommunications industry has seen an overall growth of 94.8%. AT&T currently has a forward price-to-sales ratio of 1.11 compared to the industry average of 8.87.
