Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM) has strengthened its position in the smartphone market with its Snapdragon mobile platforms, enabling advancements in artificial intelligence, 5G, and gaming. The latest flagship, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, features custom Oryon CPU architecture, Adreno GPU, and Hexagon NPU, enhancing performance in gaming and photography. Qualcomm is also releasing the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 for mid-range and entry-level smartphones, improving processing capabilities and battery life.

In recent developments, Qualcomm’s shares rose by 3.8% over the past year, compared to the industry average growth of 62.1%. The company’s price/earnings ratio currently stands at 15.96 for forward earnings, higher than the industry average of 14.77. However, earnings estimates for fiscal 2026 have declined by 1.6% to $10.57, and for fiscal 2027, by 6.2% to $10.11.

Additionally, Qualcomm faces competition from major players such as Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Broadcom Inc. (AVGO), both of whom are enhancing their mobile chip offerings to optimize performance and integration within their devices.
