Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is testing a new limit on posting links for users in the UK and US, requiring a paid subscription starting at £9.99 per month for broader access. This initiative aims to monetize key platform features and is reportedly targeting users in ‘professional mode’ or those managing Pages, commonly utilized by creators and businesses.
The move aligns with Meta’s ongoing strategy to place content distribution behind a paywall. Social media expert Matt Navarra highlighted that users could be limited to sharing only two links per month unless they subscribe, raising concerns about the implications for businesses reliant on Facebook for traffic and growth.
