Commvault Reports Strong Q1 Earnings but Sees Sharp Stock Decline

Commvault Systems (NASDAQ: CVLT) announced its Q1 2027 financial results on Tuesday, revealing a revenue increase of 11% to $314 million and adjusted earnings per share of $1.42, surpassing analyst expectations of $310 million and $1.16 per share. Free cash flow rose 71% year-over-year, totaling $51 million. However, the stock fell as much as 20.7% in early trading despite these solid results.

The company has also formed a long-term partnership with Microsoft, aiming to enhance AI security offerings on the Azure platform. Despite the promising outlook, Commvault’s management provided modest guidance, forecasting a slight decline in subscription revenue for Q2 and steady growth for the full year, leading to concerns among investors regarding future performance.
