On October 6, 2023, Micron announced the groundbreaking of a new $100 billion memory-chip manufacturing facility in New York. This facility is expected to be the largest semiconductor manufacturing site in the U.S., housing up to four distinct fabrication units. Production is anticipated to commence in 2030, reflecting Micron’s commitment to meeting growing market demand.
The facility will focus on the production of high-bandwidth-memory (HBM) chips, which are essential for graphics processing units and various AI applications, as Micron aims to capitalize on increasing consumer and enterprise demand.
