Ferrari’s Electric Debut Provokes Mixed Reactions
Ferrari introduced its first electric vehicle, the Luce, on May 25, 2023, drawing significant online criticism for its unusual design. The Luce boasts an impressive 1,035 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds, with a starting price of approximately $640,000, aligning with Ferrari’s strategy of low-volume, high-cost production.
Investors reacted negatively to Ferrari’s 2022 revenue growth forecast of 5% annually through 2030, leading to a 21% drop in stock prices shortly after the announcement. Currently, Ferrari’s shares are trading below $400, approximately 33% under its peak from July 2022, despite a robust operating margin of 29.7% reported for Q1 2026.
