Ford and General Motors Outsell Tesla in Q2 2024
In the second quarter of 2024, Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) reported significant vehicle sales, surpassing Tesla (TSLA). Ford’s sales rose 14% year-over-year to 612,095 units, while GM’s sales increased 7% to 746,588 units. In contrast, Tesla experienced a 13% decline in sales, attributed to weaker demand and challenges facing its leadership.
Both Ford and GM demonstrated strength in their vehicle segments, with Ford’s first half sales reaching 1.113 million units (+6%), and GM’s hitting 1.4 million units (+11%). Notably, GM sold 46,280 electric vehicles (EVs) in Q2, a remarkable increase of 111% compared to the previous year, while Ford’s hybrid sales were up by 6% with a total of 82,886 units.
