Ford Partners with Apple for Navigation in Upcoming EV
Apple Maps will provide the navigation system for Ford’s Universal Electric Vehicle Platform, launching in 2027. The first vehicle under this platform is expected to be a midsize electric vehicle priced around $30,000, as confirmed by Ford CEO Jim Farley.
This partnership marks a pivotal shift for Apple, which abandoned its car project in February 2024 after spending billions over a decade. In its most recent quarter, Apple’s services segment reported a record revenue of approximately $31 billion, highlighting the company’s focus on software rather than hardware in the automotive space.
With this deal, Ford will integrate Apple Maps to enhance driver experience by providing turn-by-turn directions, live traffic updates, and EV routing features. The collaboration also allows Ford to utilize Apple’s road-level data to support its upcoming autonomous driving capabilities.
