Ford Motor Company announced at CES 2026 the upcoming launch of an enhanced version of its BlueCruise highway driving system, featuring hands-free and eyes-off capabilities. Set to be introduced in 2028, this Level 3 driver-assistance system will be available on Ford’s new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, priced at $30,000.
The UEV technology integrates advanced infotainment and automated driving systems through enhanced computing power, promising substantial improvements in performance and cost-effectiveness. This upgrade aims to position Ford competitively in the growing market for advanced driving automation, joining rivals like General Motors and Mercedes-Benz, which are also working on similar Level 3 systems.
Current models, including the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, utilize Ford’s existing Level 2 BlueCruise system, which requires drivers to keep their eyes on the road while allowing hands-free operation.
