Ford is recalling over 272,000 hybrid and electric vehicles due to a software issue with the Integrated Parking Module (IPM) that may cause vehicles to roll away when shifted into park. This recall affects 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning models, 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-E models, and 2025-2026 Maverick models, including 80,468 Maverick hybrids, 104,113 Lightning EVs, and 88,064 Mustang Mach-E units. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that only 1% may have the defect.
The recall comes in light of Ford’s record safety recalls this year, exceeding 100. There have been 22 warranty claims related to the Mach-E model, alongside other claims for the Maverick and Lightning, potentially connected to the software issue. Ford has confirmed that fixes will be delivered via free software updates.
In the third quarter of 2025, Ford reported consolidated revenues of $50.5 billion, a 9% increase year-over-year. Automotive revenues reached $47.2 billion. The Ford Blue segment’s total wholesale volume grew by 2% to 733,000 units, while Model e units soared by 57% to 50,000.
