Ford’s Growing Recall Dilemma: Implications for Investors

In 2025, Ford has issued 81 vehicle recalls within the first five months, surpassing the total of 67 recalls in 2024. These actions have impacted over 4 million vehicles, with 80 recalls requiring inspections or repairs. The most recent recall involves over 200,000 vehicles due to rearview camera failures, affecting models like the Explorer, Maverick, Mustang, F-150, and Transit Connect, manufactured between 2018 and 2024.

Ford’s 2025 recall count is significantly higher than competitors, including General Motors and Nissan, which have faced fewer and less impactful recall actions. While GM recalled over 40,000 Chevrolet Blazer EVs, and Nissan recalled models like the Rogue and Altima, neither experienced recalls on the same scale as Ford.

The financial ramifications of these recalls are substantial, with Ford anticipating losses exceeding $5 billion from its EV division this year. Growing recall-related costs may further pressure the company’s finances, risk market share, and diminish consumer confidence, already worsened by quality concerns.
