Ford Motor Company is in advanced negotiations to sell part of its Valencia manufacturing plant in Spain to Geely Automobile Holdings Limited. This deal could facilitate a new electric vehicle project, with Geely reportedly interested in acquiring the Body 3 assembly lines to produce a model known internally as “135,” believed to be the EX2.

Geely’s EX2 electric hatchback was the top-selling car in China last year and is expected to be marketed in Europe as the E2. The acquisition discussions are currently rapid, with Geely engaging local suppliers. A Ford spokesperson confirmed ongoing talks with multiple firms, though no agreement has been finalized.

Strategically, this move aligns with Ford’s restructuring efforts in Europe to lower costs and enhance competitiveness against Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers. The company is already collaborating with Volkswagen for various models.
