In the final quarter of 2023, the unemployment rate in France remained stagnant at 7.5%, mirroring an upwardly regulated figure from the preceding quarter. This aligns with market projections of 7.4%, quelling speculation of a downward trend.
The count of jobless individuals surged by 29,000 to reach 2.3 million.
Between the sexes, the unemployment rate for men crept upwards by 0.1 percentage points to settle at 7.6%, while, in contrast, women experienced a decline of 0.1 percentage points, bringing their rate to 7.4%.
Conversely, the activity rate ascended to 74.1% in the final quarter of 2023, representing a notable increase from the 73.8% recorded in the previous three-month period.
