Freeport McMoRan (NYSE:FCX) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Kathleen Quirk, its current President, as the next President and CEO, succeeding Richard Adkerson. The transition will take place at the annual shareholders meeting on June 11.
Adkerson, who has held the CEO position since 2003, will continue to serve as Chairman of the company.
Quirk has been with Freeport (FCX) since 1989, having held various positions before assuming the role of CFO in 2003. She was promoted to President in 2021 and joined the board in the previous year.
Lead Independent Director Dusty McCoy expressed his confidence in Quirk, stating, “Through her 35‐year career with the company, [Quirk] has broad knowledge of Freeport’s business and operations, its people and culture, and is highly qualified to lead Freeport as CEO.”
