Friday’s Underperformers: Consumer Goods and Utility Sectors

As of midday Friday, the Consumer Products sector is underperforming with a 0.7% loss, led by Lamb Weston Holdings Inc (LW) down 24.0% and Nike (NKE) down 11.3%. Year-to-date, Lamb Weston is down 30.32% and Nike is down 20.92%. The iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF (IYK), which includes Lamb Weston, is flat for the day but has gained 5.46% year-to-date.

The Utilities sector follows with a 0.5% loss, influenced primarily by Constellation Energy Corp (CEG) down 1.3% and Pinnacle West Capital Corp (PNW) down 1.2%. Year-to-date, Constellation Energy is up 60.00% while Pinnacle West is up 7.41%. The Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLU) is also down 0.5% at midday but has increased 15.73% year-to-date.
