Netflix’s Rapid Growth Since IPO
Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) has seen its shares expand dramatically since its IPO in May 2002, where initial shares were priced at $15. Three significant stock splits transformed each original share into 140 shares. If an investor had put $1,000 into Netflix at its IPO, it would now be worth approximately $654,000 at a current share price of around $70.
The company’s revenue grew nearly 300-fold from approximately $153 million in 2002 to a projected $45.2 billion in 2025, with management expecting operating income to rise over 20% this year. Despite fluctuations in stock value, Netflix achieved a net income of $11 billion in 2025, compared to a loss of $22 million in its first year.
While Netflix’s share price is currently around 44% below its 52-week high of $124.86 from October 2023, analysts suggest it is fairly priced with a projected earnings growth rate in the low double digits in the coming years.
