Gartner forecasts that global information technology (IT) spending will reach $6.15 trillion in 2026, representing a 10.8% increase from 2025 levels. Major tech firms, including Amazon and Alphabet, have announced substantial capital expenditure (capex) plans, with Amazon planning to invest $200 billion in 2026, a $50 billion increase over analysts’ expectations.

Nvidia continues to dominate the AI data center hardware market, holding 92% of the graphics processing unit (GPU) market share. In its recent fiscal report, Nvidia reported record annual revenue of $215.9 billion for fiscal 2026, a 65% increase year-over-year, with data center revenue alone totaling $62.3 billion, up 75% from the previous year. Meanwhile, Equinix, a data center REIT, operates 280 data centers across 36 countries, providing services to over 10,500 companies, including 310 of the Fortune 500, and pays a 2% dividend yield.
