Surge in Options Trading Volume for MongoDB, Moderna, and Avis Budget
Among the underlying components of the Russell 3000 index today, we observed significant options trading volume, particularly in MongoDB Inc (Symbol: MDB). So far, 14,306 contracts have traded, representing about 1.4 million underlying shares. This volume constitutes approximately 55% of MDB’s average daily trading volume of 2.6 million shares over the past month. A notable spike was recorded for the $155 strike put option, which expires on September 19, 2025; 535 contracts have traded today, accounting for around 53,500 underlying shares of MDB. A particularly high volume was noted for the $30 strike call option set to expire on May 16, 2025, with 2,751 contracts traded today, representing about 275,100 underlying shares of MRNA. Avis Budget Group Inc (Symbol: CAR) also saw activity, with a current options volume of 10,696 contracts. Significant volume was recorded for the $80 strike call option expiring on April 17, 2025, where 2,127 contracts have traded today, representing roughly 212,700 underlying shares of CAR.
