Hog Bulls Reclaiming Gains on Thursday

Lean hog futures are seeing gains of 30 to 40 cents across most contracts on Thursday, with the USDA reporting a national base hog price of $106.57, an increase of 32 cents from the previous day. The CME Lean Hog Index dropped 14 cents to $105.86 on September 16.

Pork exports for the week ending September 11 reached 21,992 metric tons, surpassing the previous week. Shipments for the week totaled 29,396 metric tons, marking a 10-week high. Additionally, USDA reported a federally inspected hog slaughter of 486,000 head for Wednesday, bringing the weekly total to 1.464 million, 4,000 head more than last week and 31,734 head above the same week last year.
