Hog Prices Decline Further on Tuesday

Lean hog futures are trading steady to 75 cents lower, with the CME Lean Hog Index down 17 cents to $91.78 as of March 20. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Tuesday due to light volume.

The USDA reported a pork carcass cutout value of $100.43 per cwt, an increase of 83 cents. Monday’s federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 492,000 head, which is 99,000 head below the previous week but 20,985 head above the same Monday last year.

For April 26, Lean Hogs are priced at $90.800, May Hogs at $95.100, and June Hogs at $103.675, with respective declines of $0.000, $0.550, and $0.725.
