Lean hog futures declined on Monday, with prices falling between 27 cents to $1.25. The USDA’s national base hog price was unavailable due to low trading volume, while the CME Lean Hog Index fell by 15 cents, settling at $92.75 on June 11.
The USDA reported a pork carcass cutout value increase of $1.60 to $98.99 per cwt on Monday. The estimated hog slaughter for the previous week was 2.402 million head, down 20,000 from the prior week but up 31,146 compared to the same week last year.
As of Monday, July hog futures are priced at $97.150, August at $96.075, and October at $80.250, showing declines of $0.300, $0.275, and $1.125 respectively.
