Hogs Experience Modest Increases on Monday

On Monday, June 5, lean hog futures increased by 10 to 70 cents, with the USDA reporting a national average base hog price of $103.22, up $2.67 from the previous day. The CME Lean Hog Index also rose by 80 cents to $98.37.

The USDA’s FOB plant pork cutout value fell by $1.22 to $110.29. The federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 480,000 head, which is an increase of 17,000 from last week and 16,516 more than the same week last year.
