Hogs See Positive Gains at the Beginning of the Holiday Week

Lean hog futures increased by 30 to 65 cents across most contracts at midday. As of December 18, the CME Lean Hog Index declined by 15 cents to $83.73. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported due to light trading volume.

For the week ending December 4, export sales data indicated 27,436 metric tons of pork sold, while shipments totaled 31,074 metric tons. The USDA reported a pork carcass cutout value at $99.02 per cwt, down 74 cents, and estimated a federally inspected hog slaughter of 2.683 million head for last week, which was 39,000 head less than the previous week but 97,673 head more than the same week last year.

As of today, February 2026 hogs are priced at $85.050 (up $0.550), April 2026 hogs at $89.775 (up $0.650), and May 2026 hogs at $93.225 (up $0.300).
