News of Swiss building materials company Holcim Ltd. (OTCPK:HCMLF) nearing an agreement to separate its North American business has set the financial world abuzz.

According to a Bloomberg report on Saturday, a deal could be announced as soon as Monday, citing individuals familiar with the matter. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news on Saturday, stating that the business may be valued at $30 billion.

The separation of the U.S. business, as reported by the WSJ, sets the stage for Holcim (OTCPK:HCMLF) to take the North American unit public at some point. It is suggested that with a higher valuation in the U.S., the company could pursue acquisitions.

Adding to the market’s anticipatory stance, Holcim (OTCPK:HCMLF) is scheduled to report its Q4 results on Feb. 28.
