Microsoft and Amazon rank as the top two hyperscalers in artificial intelligence (AI) spending analyses, according to a recent study. Microsoft, funding its AI initiatives through cash flow, boasts a strong balance sheet and transparent AI revenue data. Conversely, Amazon relies on significant borrowing but supports it with a robust cash engine and a $25 billion chip business.
Alphabet (Google’s parent company) secured third place, noted for its substantial AI spending and cash reserves, though it provides limited transparency regarding AI revenue. Meta follows in fourth place with solid proof of AI revenue generation but faces challenges due to a thin cash cushion and rising debt. Oracle rounds out the rankings in fifth place, struggling with a weak balance sheet and high customer risk, despite having a significant backlog.
