NVIDIA Corporation has announced a significant strategy shift aimed at expanding its role in the AI sector. On August 10, the company forged agreements with major financial institutions, including Apollo Global Management and BlackRock, to mobilize over $500 billion for AI infrastructure development. This marks a strategic collaboration intended to transform AI compute into an “investable asset class” while continuing to supply the necessary hardware.
Additionally, on August 14, NVIDIA entered a long-term lease with OpenAI for about 8 gigawatts of computing capacity at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Ohio, backed by a $1.5 billion investment in SB Energy for infrastructure needs. These moves not only enhance NVIDIA’s position in the AI landscape but also address concerns regarding circular financing, vowing to reshape the financial ecosystem surrounding AI development.
