IAMGOLD has had robust performance across its mining projects, with the Essakane mine in Burkina Faso achieving 108,000 ounces in the fourth quarter and 372,000 ounces for the full year, nearing the upper end of the annual guidance of 380,000. The Westwood project in Québec surpassed expectations with 28,000 ounces in the fourth quarter and 93,000 ounces for the full year, exceeding the annual guidance range of 70,000 to 90,000 ounces.
Progress at Côté Gold Project
The commissioning activities at the Côté gold project are advancing smoothly, with the primary crushing circuit startup in progress. Initial production at the Côté project remains on schedule for March 2024. Notably, this project, constructed in collaboration with Sumitomo Metal Mining, is slated to become Canada’s third-largest gold mine upon completion.
Promising Growth Prospects
Marked by its commencement in 2020, the construction of the Côté project was initially projected to span three years. The mine is anticipated to have a lifespan of 16-18 years, with an estimated annual production of 495,000 ounces for its first six years and an average annual production of 365,000 ounces over its operational lifetime.
