Intel Corporation (INTC) has partnered with Nokia Corporation (NOK) and Dell Technologies Inc. (DELL) to enhance 5G edge infrastructure, introducing a new edge-based User Plane Function (UPF) appliance. This initiative aims to assist telecom operators in creating faster, low-latency networks, utilizing Intel’s Xeon 6 Granite Rapids-D System-on-Chip (SoC) to bolster performance and integrate AI capabilities for far-edge deployments.
The newly designed edge appliance offers scalable performance enhancements, boasting a 30% improvement in 5G core UPF performance and significant CPU power savings. This solution is optimized for rugged environments and supports efficient user data routing, facilitating faster and more reliable network services.
The collaboration signifies Intel’s commitment to advancing edge networks in the telecom sector, further allowing operators to improve service delivery and expand capacity efficiently.
