Intel Corporation (INTC) announced the launch of its new GPU chip, Crescent Island, which is designed for AI inference workloads. This launch, which underscores a shift from training AI models to real-time application, aims to meet the growing demands of the AI inference market, projected to reach $97.24 billion by 2024 with a compound annual growth rate of 17.5% from 2025 to 2030.

The GPU is based on Intel’s Xe architecture, optimized for air-cooled enterprise servers with high memory capacity and compatibility with diverse data types. This positions Intel to compete against rivals NVIDIA Corporation and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), both of which have established strong offerings in AI inference infrastructure.

Intel’s stock has gained 62.3% over the past year, outperforming the industry’s growth of 30.5%. Currently, Intel’s shares trade at 1.48 times book value, lower than the industry average of 37.33. Earnings estimates for 2025 remain unchanged, while those for 2026 have declined over the past 60 days.
