Intel Launches Panther Lake CPUs at CES
Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) introduced its Panther Lake-based laptops at CES in early January 2025, garnering positive reviews for their performance and features. This launch marks Intel’s first product utilizing its new 18A manufacturing node, which includes advanced technologies like RibbonFET transistor design and backside power delivery.
In January, Intel shares surged by 25.9%, following a 84% increase in 2025, attributed to the excitement surrounding the Panther Lake CPU. Despite a sequential decline in revenue and profit forecasted for Q1, Intel reported strong demand for its PC and server chips. The company is transitioning some older PC chip manufacturing lines to server production to meet this demand.
Early reviews highlight Panther Lake’s impressive capabilities, including a 22-hour battery life during 4K video playback, a 50% increase in multi-threaded performance compared to its last generation, and a neural processing unit capable of 180 TOPS, which is 50% higher than its predecessor.
