AMD’s AI Data Center Revenue Potential Exceeds $100 Billion
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) is currently focusing on developing high-performance chips for artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, vying to compete against Nvidia in the data center sector. The company has announced that it could generate over $100 billion in data center revenue within the next few years, bolstered by a recent deal with OpenAI for supplying up to 6 gigawatts of GPU capacity by 2030.
In the third quarter of 2025, AMD reported revenues of $9.2 billion, marking a 36% increase year-over-year, with $4.3 billion coming from its data center segment, largely driven by sales of AI GPUs. Major tech firms like Oracle and Meta Platforms are among the early adopters of AMD’s MI350 series GPUs, with Oracle placing a significant order of 131,000 MI355X GPUs for their Zettascale SuperCluster.
Despite a recent drop of 23% in AMD’s stock price, the company remains confident about its growth potential in the AI data center market, expected to broaden with the upcoming release of its MI400 series GPUs in 2026.
