Jeff Bezos Invests $2 Billion in Blue Origin

Jeff Bezos has committed $2 billion to his space company, Blue Origin, boosting its valuation to approximately $130 billion. This marks a significant move, as Bezos has historically financed Blue Origin primarily through selling around $1 billion of his Amazon shares each year. The new funding round, which aims to raise a total of $10 billion, is supported by outside investors, including notable hedge fund Coatue, signaling a shift in Blue Origin from a personal venture to an emerging business.

Blue Origin recently completed a successful mission with its New Glenn rocket, which carried a NASA spacecraft, and is poised to continue government contracts, including projects tied to NASA’s lunar missions. Despite challenges, such as a recent rocket explosion during testing, the company plans to resume flights by the end of the year, indicating robust operational capabilities.
