In a recent sit-down, NVIDIA Corp NVDA chief Jensen Huang delved into why the tech giant is diving headfirst into humanoid robots.
The Inside Scoop: During his chat with CNBC’s Jim Cramer, Huang shed light on the rationale behind venturing into humanoid robots. According to CNBC, he expounded on how most of the data used to train these robots stems from human movements.
“In this realm, to fashion software for a computer, we rely on data or training examples, enabling the computer to learn from these cases,” Huang elaborated. “We possess a surplus of instances of human(s) in motion compared to nearly any other data out there.”
He went on to illustrate that our world has been crafted to accommodate human requirements, noting how factories are set up for human employees. By leveraging human data, robots can be finely tuned for these roles, possibly leading to a domain where robots supervise other robots in the manufacturing domain.

At a recent event in San Jose, Nvidia took the wraps off Project GROOT, a versatile foundational model designed for humanoid robots. This initiative aims to propel the company’s endeavors in robot technology and embodied AI.
Huang also touched on Nvidia’s status as a trendsetter in the tech landscape, underlining how the company’s innovations will drive job creation and amplify business efficiency.
Why This Is Significant: Huang’s remarks come in the wake of several pivotal developments at Nvidia. The CEO recently prognosticated that the AI computing sector is still nascent and poised for substantial expansion in the years ahead. He staunchly asserted the supremacy of Nvidia’s GPUs over any competitors’ AI chips, even if given away gratuitously.
Despite these bold assertions, Nvidia’s shares saw a slight downturn post-Huang’s presentation. Nevertheless, entities referenced during the event witnessed a notable surge in their stock prices, underscoring Huang’s influence as a savvy market mover.
Industry pundits are also eyeing a momentous week in tech, with Nvidia’s GTC 2024 conference set to herald the next phase of the AI revolution, featuring a slate of fresh products, applications, and collaborations.
