Apple’s Continued Dominance and Future Risks
As of Q1 2026, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) reported $85.3 billion in revenue, with nearly 60% derived from its flagship iPhone, despite the product being nearly two decades old. However, analysts warn of a long-term risk that a competing hardware product could disrupt Apple’s market position, particularly with emerging AI technologies potentially introducing new ways for consumers to connect to the internet.
With over 2.5 billion active devices globally and the appointment of new hardware-focused CEO John Ternus, Apple maintains a strong distribution advantage. Nevertheless, investors are urged to stay vigilant regarding advancements in AI hardware, with notable companies like OpenAI planning device releases as early as the second half of 2026. Experts believe that while the market is unpredictable, a direct iPhone replacement is not imminent.
