In early trading on Friday, shares of 3M (MMM) surged by 12.9%, making it the top performer among Dow Jones Industrial Average components. Year-to-date, MMM has registered an impressive gain of 27.7%.
In contrast, International Business Machines (IBM) was the worst performer of the day, slipping 0.6%, though it still maintains a year-to-date gain of 16.7%. Other notable movers included Honeywell International, down 0.5%, and Home Depot, up 2.1%.
