As of today, October NY world sugar #11 is down 0.03 points (-0.18%), while October London ICE white sugar #5 has risen by 2.70 points (+0.55%). London sugar reached a six-week high after Pakistan announced it is seeking 100,000 MT of refined white sugar, contributing to a total anticipated import of 750,000 MT this year to maintain domestic availability.
Brazil’s crop forecasting agency Conab has reduced its 2025/26 production estimate by 3.1% to 44.5 MMT, partially due to unfavorable weather conditions impacting yields. In contrast, India is forecasting a significant increase in sugar production for the 2025/26 season, with projections suggesting a 19% year-over-year rise to 35 MMT, following a decline in production last year due to adverse conditions.
Additionally, the USDA recently projected a 4.7% increase in global sugar production for the 2025/26 season, potentially reaching a record 189.318 MMT, amid expectations of a 7.5 MMT global sugar surplus.
