The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) has partnered with Meta Platforms, Inc. to launch a $115 million workforce training initiative called America’s Workforce Academy. This program aims to address the shortage of data center construction technicians in the U.S. and will start in Indiana, Louisiana, Ohio, and Texas, offering a five-week training course followed by job opportunities on Meta projects.

Qualified participants will receive scholarships, travel, housing, and living stipends. The program focuses on career readiness, safety, and hands-on craft instruction, leveraging ABC’s extensive network of over 800 apprenticeship and craft training programs across 20 occupations. ABC President and CEO Michael Bellaman emphasized that this program is a crucial part of tackling the construction industry’s workforce shortage.

Training centers will be established in Baton Rouge, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Houston, specifically targeting high school graduates, veterans, and new entrants into the construction field. This initiative comes amid increasing demand for data centers driven by advancements in artificial intelligence.
