Meta Enhances Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with New AI Features
New Features Unveiled: On Monday, Meta Platforms Inc. META introduced exciting updates to its Ray-Ban smart glasses aimed at enriching user experience.
What’s New: Meta launched three key features for its smart glasses: live AI, live translations, and Shazam integration. These advancements aim to seamlessly integrate sophisticated technology into everyday eyewear.
Currently, the live AI and translation functions are available exclusively through the Early Access Program.
With the live AI feature, users can interact with Meta’s AI assistant, which offers helpful suggestions based on their surroundings. For instance, while shopping, it might suggest recipes relevant to the ingredients they encounter.

The live translation feature supports real-time speech translation between English and Spanish, French, or Italian. Users can either listen to the translated speech through their glasses or view it on their phones.
Before utilizing this feature, users must download the necessary language pairs and indicate the languages spoken by themselves and their conversation partners.
For music lovers, Shazam support is now available to all users in the U.S. and Canada, allowing them to identify songs they come across by simply asking the Meta AI.
To utilize these features, users must update their glasses to the software version v11 and ensure the Meta View app is set to version v196.

They are equipped with Meta AI, enabling the glasses to provide information about the objects the wearer sees.
As of October 2024, reports indicated that Meta’s smart glasses have emerged as the best-selling product in 60% of Ray-Ban stores across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
However, competition is fierce, with newer entrants like Solos, which is preparing to launch the AirGo Vision smart glasses powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
