On Tuesday, lean hog futures fell between $1.07 to $2.35. The USDA reported a national base hog price of $105.54, down $3.48 from the previous report. The CME Lean Hog Index increased by 2 cents to $110.30 as of July 25.
The USDA’s FOB plant pork cutout value decreased by $0.79 to $117.50 per cwt. Notably, hog slaughter was estimated at 460,000 head for Monday, which is an increase of 13,000 from the previous week but a decrease of 12,061 from the same time last year.
As of the latest report, August 25 hogs are priced at $107.450, down $1.075; October 25 hogs at $88.525, down $2.350; and December 25 hogs at $80.600, down $2.300.
