On Wednesday, lean hog futures rose by up to 35 cents across the front months. The USDA reported a national base hog price of $95.12 and a CME Lean Hog Index of $97.99, down 58 cents from October 13. The USDA’s FOB plant report indicated a pork cutout price of $102.98 per cwt, reflecting a decrease of 78 cents.

USDA estimated Tuesday’s federally inspected hog slaughter at 491,000 head, bringing the week’s total to 976,000 head, which is an increase of 5,000 head from the previous week and 17,887 head above the same week last year.
