Lean hog futures fell between 2 to 22 cents across front-month contracts. As of October 15, the USDA reported the national base hog price at $89.81, a decline of $1.75 from the previous day. The CME Lean Hog Index also fell by 61 cents, bringing it to $96.59.

The USDA’s FOB pork carcass cutout rose by $2.57 to $104.74 per cwt, with notable increases in belly prices by $10.13. Thursday’s federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 492,000 head, totaling 1.960 million for the week, which is 14,000 more than last week and 27,924 more than the same week last year.
