As of midday Wednesday, the Utilities sector leads with a 0.5% increase, primarily driven by Vistra Corp (VST) and Constellation Energy Corp (CEG), with gains of 6.7% and 3.9%, respectively. The Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLU) is also up 0.6% today and has risen 29.20% year-to-date. Vistra Corp has surged 212.91% year-to-date, while Constellation Energy Corp has increased by 126.16%. Together, VST and CEG account for approximately 9.7% of XLU’s holdings.
In contrast, the Technology & Communications sector has reported a slight decline of 0.3%. Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (HPE) and Intel Corp (INTC) have shown gains of 4.7% and 3.3%, respectively. The Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) is up 0.2% today and has risen 16.99% year-to-date. HPE has increased by 18.76% year-to-date, while INTC is down 52.37%. Combined, HPE and INTC make up about 1.3% of XLK’s underlying holdings.
